The musical scores are peppered with three \u2018music theory intermezzos\u2019. The first intermezzo explains the NOTUS intervals legend and the learning of intervals. The concepts of modes\/keys\/scales are explored in conjunction with a cursory introduction to the major and minor modes. The second music theory intermezzo explains tuplets and provides an opportunity to practice them. The third intermezzo is a reference section that discusses the different time signatures. Here the focus is on the practical aspect of identifying and playing the accents in the various time signatures. This third intermezzo ends with an overview of the articulation signs, including three new NOTUS signs.<\/p>\n
