The follow-up to the textbook NOTUS BEGINNER PIANO – MASTER THE PIANO KEYBOARD and ALL ITS NOTES! With 45 exercises, 45 short compositions and 5 four-handed duets, you will learn all about five-finger positions and playing in multiple octave groups using both hands. The ‘thumb under’ and ‘fingers over’ techniques will be covered thoroughly. Exercises are also given in holding notes while the other fingers play different notes, as well as holding with one finger and moving the thumb simultaneously.
The exercises and compositions are arranged in increasing levels of difficulty. New terminology and notation topics are clarified as needed throughout the exercises and compositions.

Integrated music theory.
The musical scores are peppered with three ‘music theory intermezzos’. The first intermezzo explains the NOTUS intervals legend and the learning of intervals. The concepts of modes/keys/scales are explored in conjunction with a cursory introduction to the major and minor modes. The second music theory intermezzo explains tuplets and provides an opportunity to practice them. The third intermezzo is a reference section that discusses the different time signatures. Here the focus is on the practical aspect of identifying and playing the accents in the various time signatures. This third intermezzo ends with an overview of the articulation signs, including three new NOTUS signs.
